This is a Ferguson TE20 tractor, aka the Little Grey Fergie. They were very popular in the immediate post-horse era.

Kinja'd!!!

They had a choice of diesel or TVO engines, both four cylinder units.

You wouldn’t find one with a 5.3 litre Jaguar V12 and straight pipes instead would you?

No.

That would be silly.

I’ve racked up hundreds of acres cutting grass with my parents ‘47 Ford N. I absolute adore ol’ Dixie. That little flathead 4 fires up every time and chugs along for 8 hours at a time with no trouble. I can’t day the same for the John Deere finishing mower I’d drag behind it. That old tractor got me really interested in old flathead engines and 30s-40s cars/trucks. A future aspiration is a frame up model A build.

The one time I did break down (sediment in fuel) I tugged it around with my E34 Beater.

They’ve made it completely useless, but this is also how geniuses are made.

G’pa was a John Deere man - nobody needs more than 2 cyl.  :)

Hmmm....that might work. Let's face it...what else are you going to do with that engine anyway?

Two cylinders?? Fancy. Probably had those fancy valves and things as well.

Here’s simple.

Kinja'd!!!

Single cylinder NA two stroke. Starting was, shall we say, challenging.

There was a complicated and ultimately litigi ous relationship between Ford and Ferguson tractors as I recall.
